Where are the most Beef Ranches in Texas?

The best source for a lot of very good information about Texas Ranching is found here:

In recent years, most Texas beef producers have adopted a lot of modern technology in their ranching operations. They often use electric branding irons and hire “helicopter cowboys” to round up and drive cattle to the ranch corrals. Computers are used by most modern ranchers to make management of stock, feed, employees, and assets easier and also to obtain information on current beef prices and markets. Many of the purebred producers, are now responding to consumer demands for leaner beef, and have shown considerable interest in genetic engineering.

Texas Beef producers vigorously promote the beef industry. Threats of national boycotts back in the 1970s prompted ranchers and processors across the U.S. to increase their voice in their state capitols and in Washington, DC. These organizations have addressed such issues as adulterated imported meat, toxicants for predator control, and price fluctuations.

Associations of beef producers in Texas include the Texas Beef Council, the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Texas Cattle Women, and many others. The ranching industry promotes Livestock Appreciation Day at the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth, at the Fort Worth Farm and Ranch Club meetings, at meetings of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and at many other venues. Some of these organizations give annual awards. The Texas Beef Council funds a traveling exhibit to encourage Texans to eat more beef. Many Texas cattlemen serve on various national livestock boards across the United States.
